The technology has improved so rapidly that one of Kodak's film cameras was discontinued before it was awarded a "camera of the year" award later in the year. Discover a wide range of digital cameras at low prices. Modern digital cameras have comparable noise/grain at the same ISO as film cameras. Even after color film was readily available, black-and-white photography continued to dominate for decades, due to its lower cost and its "classic" photographic look. Instant cameras and commercial film development at reasonable prices helped cameras become a part of almost every household. Conceptual photography turns a concept or idea into a photograph. Some commercial photographers, and some amateurs interested in artistic photography, have been resistant to using digital rather than film cameras because they believe that the image quality available from a digital camera is still inferior to that available from a film camera, and the quality of images taken on medium format film is near-impossible to match at any price with a digital camera. If you are skilled with a camera, and are motivated to earn your own money in this way, you can be a successful photographer, even on a part time basis. Fine art photography includes photographs made to fulfill a vision, and reproduced to be sold directly to the customer. Landscape photography are photographs of different locations often made to be sold to tourists as prints or postcards. Fashion photography emphasizes the clothes or product, glamour emphasizes the model. Photojournalism can be considered a subset of editorial photography. There is lots of information here for anyone with a personal or professional interest in photography. Digital photography was used in astronomy long before its use by the general public and had almost completely displaced photographic plates by the early 1980s.
