It is important to note that the differences between film and digital photography are far less significant than the differences between painting and film photography. Digital photography has also been adopted by many amateur snapshot photographers, who take advantage of the convenience of the form when sending images by email, placing them on the World Wide Web, or displaying them in digital picture frames. At the highest-end, some digital cameras are nothing but a sophisticated light-sensing unit. Throughout the history of photography, technological advances in optics, camera production, developing, and imaging have had an effect on the way people view images. Photography is used to preserve memories of favorite times, to capture special moments, to tell stories, to send messages, and as a source of entertainment. Photography as a usable process goes back to the 1820s with the development of chemical photography. Photography is a unique and creative medium of self-expression. You have many options when it comes to a career in photography, depending on your own personal interests. If photography is authentically art, then photography in the context of art would need redefinition, such as determining what component of a photograph makes it beautiful to the viewer.

Shark Fin Cove

I went on a google+ photowalk with some other photographers at Shark Fin Cove last night. There was not much color but we all had a great time. The surf was pounding pretty good so there was a lot of mist in the air which made things a little foggy.

My official website is Here.

After the Storm in Albion, Mendocino Coast

Rita Crane Photography posted a photo:

After the Storm in Albion, Mendocino Coast

Four ocean pictures for you here, Flickr friends. Thanks for stopping by. I'm away from my coastal home right now, taking pictures along the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, can't upload those shots yet, so am reposting some of my coastal faves of my beloved home in Mendocino County. I'll respond to your comments on Your photostreams. :0)

Description: Winter along the wild rocky coast of California means rainstorms and dramatic clouds. In this photo the sky was clearing, and one could just make out the blue sky beyond where the clouds were breaking. The setting sun brought a barely perceptible glow to the chilly evening.

This coastline is protected from excessive development of hotels, motels, condominiums and MacMansion type vacation homes -- by the California Coastal Commission. As a result those lucky visitors who want to brave this exquisite stretch of Highway One (which is a winding mountain road along the edge of the continent) can still enjoy such beauty. For this privilege we have a handful of forward looking people who lived in Mendocino in the early 1970's to thank. They initiated the preservation of the coastal areas in California -- starting with the headlands of Mendocino village -- not far north of where this photo was taken. For their dedication to preserving nature's beauty, I thank and salute them!!

We live in a magical world, full of precious beauty. If we protect nature, we can live in this Paradise forever. Here are a few excellent resources about renewable energy:

Please view on black. Just 'Click' on the image to see it much better. Thanks!

The light keeps shining even on the longest nights during this season when nature is resting. We live in a miraculous world whose beauty is beyond imagining. Nature's colors and moods are a kaleidoscope of jewels lighting our way.

It was a winter night's Full Moon and I got up around 4:00 AM to try to capture it glowing among the clouds as it was setting over the Pacific. I set up my tripod on the rural road overlooking the ocean, and took a series of long exposures. This is my favorite of the series.
